Bringing people together to share ennobling artistic experiences.

Mission: Bringing people together to share ennobling artistic experiences.

Vision: Creating a nurturing environment that ensures performance excellence, creative experiences, and educational opportunities.

Each summer Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre brings together over 300 professional artists, instrumentalists, and technicians to present a world-class festival. Presenting over 100 events, the festival features main stage productions of Broadway musicals, operas, specialty concerts, a lecture series, academy classes, and backstage tours. Our patrons can also attend several events where they interact personally with our performers for up-close insights into our season.

Our reputation for excellence and providing a nurturing, caring, familial environment draws young and up-coming professionals in training as well as performers who have already graced the stages of the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Broadway, and every major house in between.

Our 2013 Season includes Fiddler on the Roof, Otello, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcost, The Flying Dutchman, 8 Hands 2 Pianos, A Tribute to Irving Berlin, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, and more..!

Opera by Children

We passionately serve our commitment to champion children through our Opera by Children program. Now in its 15th year, our program has provided the opportunity for 70,000 Utah students to write, compose, design, and perform their own original opera!

Festival Academy

The Academy offers adult-educational courses covering a variety of stimulating subjects taught by Utah Festival artists and include exciting topics such as conducting, directing, dance, music history, costume design, make-up, art, ethnic cooking, and more.

The Conservatory offers specially designed classes for students ages 4 to 18 interested in musical theatre who receive year-round Intensive, professional training in drama, dance, and musical theatre. These classes intentionally instill self-discipline and enhance participants’ performance skills and audition techniques.

Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards (UHSMTA)

The Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards program inspires students to pursue their dreams in furthering an education in the field of professional theater. Since its inception in 2010, this program has paired high schools throughout the state of Utah with arts-industry professionals to adjudicate their theater productions. Productions are scored based upon the overall show and specific components such as costume design, student direction, set design, and best musical. The 10 highest scoring musicals are invited to perform as part of the annual awards ceremony. Months of preparation culminate on this magical evening as winners for Best Actor and Best Actress are given scholarships to attend the National High School Musical Theater Awards in New York City where they participate in a week-long series of training and activities with industry professionals all at the expense of UFOMT. Other scholarships and opportunities are provided including paid professional internships at UFOMT.
